* Christmas in Dairyland * Give Me a Home Where the Dairy Cows Roam * Cream of the Crop by LeAnn R. Ralph With a book from Rural Route 2, you can: 1. Visit the country without leaving home! If you cannot afford a vacation to a country bed-and-breakfast, or do not want to take the time, or simply don't have time, reading one of my books is like taking a mini-vacation. You can escape for a few minutes, or for a few hours -- and all for only $13.95 per book! Each of the 20 stories in each of the books is complete in and of itself. When was the last time you went on vacation for $13.95? . . . 2. Relive the 'good old days' down on the farm! So -- you grew up on a dairy farm, too. Or a hog farm. Or a beef farm. Or any kind of farm at all. Congratulations! But now you cannot experience farm life again because the farm has been sold, because it is no longer a working farm, or because it has been turned into a rural subdivision. Reading my books will help you recall some of your own fond memories about 'life on the farm' -- even if you can no longer go back to that farm. 3. Find out what it was like to grow up on a farm (if you don't already know)! We are experiencing an ever-increasing sense of nostalgia in this country. I mean, really, just look at all of the "retro" things that are IN STYLE -- clothing, furniture, lamps, hairstyles. And in addition to the nostalgia, the 'simple life' that is part of our rural heritage appeals to you. There's only one problem. You don't know one end of a cow from the other. Or one end of the bull from another. Well, you don't need to know! Reading my books will let you find out just exactly what it was like during those "simpler times" -- and you won't have to scrape cow manure off your shoes! 4. Show your children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews what it was like to grow up on a farm. . . You grew up on a farm, but today, you find that your city-dwelling children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews are much too wrapped up in the newest tecnhology, too dependent on their computers, their televisions, their iPods, their cell phones, their computer games -- and you worry that they are completely out of touch with reality. Reading my books will show them that other lifestyles do exist, and that at one time, children were expected to do chores at home and to work to help support the family -- and that they could even have fun while they were doing chores and helping with the farm work! 5. Promote literacy! Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews learn by example. If they see you reading regularly, they will grow up thinking that reading is a normal part of life. And you know they need to be able to read well in order to succeed in the world the way that it is today. 5. Promote literacy by giving my books as gifts. Give my books to your children, grandchildren, great-granchildren, nieces and nephews. When they have read some of the stories, discuss the stories with them. Find out which stories they liked best and why. Show them that you are interested in what they are reading. Show them that literacy is important! 6. Give a unique gift that you cannot buy ANYWHERE else! You can request that I write a special inscription in the books you buy from me. Not only will you be purchasing my special books autographed by the author as gifts, but each book will be inscribed to the person who will be receiving it. What a concept, huh? Personalized gifts that do not cost and arm and a leg. 7. Enjoy a good read with short stories that the Midwest Book Review calls 'highly recommended reading!' The Midwest Book Review has given my books good reviews -- and so have my readers. To read what other readers are saying about my books click here. 8. Carry a cheap form of entertainment with you anywhere -- even in your coat pocket! True, you can carry all kinds of electronic devices in your coat pocket -- cell phones, for example, that you can use to take pictures and on which you can play games and that you can use to call all of your friends and that you can use to keep track of your spouse and your children. But cell phones are not cheap! You cannot buy a cell phone for $13.95! Or if you can, it's not very good or very reliable. 9. Receive FREE! shipping on all books that you order from me. Think of it! FREE shipping. FREE -- Free -- FREE! How many items have you ordered on-line -- or through a catalog? How many of those items came by free shipping? Usually a "shipping and handling" charge is added, anywhere from a couple of dollars on up to $10 or more. And you know what? That "shipping and handling" charge really bothers me. Especially the "handling" part. What is that -- handling? I am doing the company a favor by ordering a product, and yet, the company is going to charge me a "handling" fee for the privilege of their employees putting the item in a box or an envelope and adding a label and some postage? The "handling" should have been part of the cost of the item. They are NOT doing me a favor getting the item ready to ship. But that's what they want you to think -- that they are doing you a HUGE favor by actually sending the item to you after you have paid for it. Give me a break! That's why I do not charge a shipping fee. I also ship book orders within 24 to 48 hours of receiving the order. 10. Gain the satisfaction of knowing that you are not supporting corporate giants, such as Wal-Mart, and that you are not making "the rich richer" by buying my books. Here's a sad fact: the vast majority of authors are not wealthy people. Only a few of the "celebrity" authors at the top -- who already have more money than they know what to do with! -- are making huge amounts of money from their books. Writing is the only profession where no one considers you ridiculous if you earn no money. (Jules Renard) A room without books is like a body without a soul. (Cicero) My books are water; those of the great geniuses are wine -- everybody drinks water. (Mark Twain) You are invited to buy a book! Buy Books Here! ******************** LeAnn R.
