Thunderstorms in Summertime

We’ve had a few impressive thunderstorms so far this summer here in at Rural Route 2, but this one was particularly photogenic. Click the thumbnail below to open a wide-screen panoramic of the storm.

This storm was different from most thunderstorms because it was moving straight south – this photo is looking north from our backyard. The entire storm was also rotating counter clockwise. As the gust front came in the wind picked up to about 30 miles per hour. Also the clouds were very low – just over the tops of the ridge – look on the far left of the photo and you can see just how close the clouds are.
